Remove the background from an animated GIF

Already have a GIF? Open it in GifNoBg just like a video to remove its background and get a transparent animated GIF, WebP or APNG.

Video or GIF: which gives a better result?

If you have the original video, use it. A GIF can only hold 256 colours and is often small and compressed, so the edges the AI finds are less precise. A video keeps every shade, which means smoother hair and cleaner outlines.

Why does my GIF already "have" a background?

Most GIFs you find online are fully opaque: every pixel has a colour, even the "white" background. GifNoBg replaces those background pixels with true transparency, so the result sits cleanly on any colour.

Keep the edges clean on dark or light chats

GIF pixels are either fully see-through or fully solid. If you know your sticker will sit on a dark (or light) background, open Advanced → Export → Custom and set Best on to Dark or Light — the edge pixels are tuned for it.
